How can we help?

Answers to the questions readers ask most, step-by-step guides, what we learned testing translation models, and the fine print.

  • What are leaves, and what do they pay for?

Leaves are for the premium models — the ones you pick by name. Ordinary reading does not use them: your membership covers Crossleaf Standard.

  • How is a translation priced?

On Crossleaf Standard there is no per-chapter price: your membership covers it. A premium model is quoted before it runs and charged for what it actually did.

  • How does a membership work?

A membership includes Crossleaf Standard, which translates every chapter. Reader is the everyday tier and Plus gives you twice as much. Cancel any time; it ends at the end of the period.

  • Why did my chapter fail, and was I charged?

Models sometimes stop before the end, or don't answer at all. You keep whatever was written and pay only for the model's work; if nothing came back, nothing is charged.

  • Why does a piece say it may be incomplete?

Crossleaf checks every piece against the original and tells you when something looks missing. You decide what to do: retry the piece, try another model, or fix it by hand.

  • Which AI translates my book?

Crossleaf Standard, unless you choose otherwise. Standard is included in your membership and picks the right engine for the language itself; the premium models are there by name if you would rather choose.

  • How does Crossleaf keep names and pronouns consistent?

It remembers. As a book translates, Crossleaf keeps its own list of the names in it and how each one is spelled, and holds every later chapter to it. Pronouns work the same way.

  • A character has the wrong pronouns. How do I fix it?

Set the pronouns (and the name, if needed) in the glossary so every chapter from now on gets them right, then retry or retranslate the chapters that already came out wrong.

  • Is polishing free?

On Crossleaf Standard your membership covers it; on a premium model it costs leaves, usually a little less than a translation because there is no source text to read.

  • What does capturing with the Chrome extension cost?

The same as translating a chapter in the app: nothing extra. On Crossleaf Standard your membership covers it; a premium model is quoted in leaves.

  • How do I delete my account?

From Settings, with your password. There is a 30-day grace period during which signing in again cancels the deletion.

  • Importing a book

EPUB or plain text, in any language. Crossleaf finds the chapters and detects the language; plain-text files get a chapter review step.

  • Translating a chapter and reading the result

Press Translate and Crossleaf Standard takes it from there — one chapter or a batch — and you read the result in Translation, Original, or side-by-side view. Choosing the AI yourself is optional.

  • Keeping names and terms consistent with the glossary

Crossleaf keeps its own list of the names in your book and holds every chapter to it. You can rename anything, everywhere, for free. This guide is for readers who want to see how it works or take the wheel.

  • Exporting your translation

EPUB, PDF, DOCX or plain text, with your cover, for any translated chapters. Exports are free.

  • Using the Chrome extension

Capture a chapter from a web page into your book, optionally translating it on the spot. Auto-add mode handles a whole site one tap at a time.

  • Choosing the AI yourself

You never have to: Crossleaf Standard is included and translates everything. But the premium models are there by name, per book or per chapter, for a reader who wants to pick.

  • Use Crossleaf like an app

Add Crossleaf to your home screen and it opens full screen, without the browser bar. Same account, same library.

  • Sixteen models, one Korean chapter

Sixteen models, one Korean chapter, scored on fidelity and writing with the marking shown. Kimi K3 won; a one-leaf model came third.

  • Sixteen models, one Japanese chapter

A Japanese villainess chapter with a live comment feed, sixteen models, scored on fidelity and writing. Two perfect scores and a surprise at one leaf.

  • Sixteen models, one Chinese chapter

A wuxia chapter, sixteen models, scored on fidelity and writing with the marking shown. Two perfect scores, and a time unit that tripped eight.

  • Six DeepSeek models, one Korean chapter

We wrote a short Korean chapter, sent it through every DeepSeek generation from December 2024 to September 2026, and read the six results beside their exact cost. The April V4 Flash won on the page and on the bill.

  • The Chrome extension is on the Chrome Web Store

Crossleaf Capture is now a one-click install. It reads the chapter you are on and adds it to your book, translated if you like.

  • September 2026: a hardening pass

A full security audit and bug sweep: safer sessions, capped uploads, three chapters translating at once, metered polish, and PDFs in every language.
