Free to start

The story you want to read is already written.

It's just not in English yet. Bring the EPUB, or add the chapter you're reading straight from Chrome, and Crossleaf translates it chapter by chapter, keeps the names straight, and gives you a book you can actually sit and read. You choose the book. Crossleaf handles the AI.

Fourteen seconds, no sound: shelf, book, glossary, side by side, then just reading.

What you get

Three things a translation needs to become a book.

A real account, with invented novels so no one's library is on show.

Names stay straight

The book builds its own glossary.

Lock a name once and every chapter after it keeps to that.

A book's glossary: the names Crossleaf found, each with the spelling it keeps to
It reads like a book

Full-width English, the original a tap away.

On your phone or a laptop, side by side when you want to check a line.

A chapter read on its own: English across the full width of the page
The same chapter on a phone, read full screen
Your version, your call

Retranslate, compare, pin, export.

Try another model on any chapter, keep the versions side by side, pin the one that reads best, and take it with you as an EPUB.

How it works

  1. Bring a story. An EPUB or plain text file — a web novel you've been following, a book with no English edition, anything public domain. Crossleaf finds the chapters and works out the language. Reading on a website? The Chrome extension captures chapters as you go, and a captured chapter is a chapter like any other.
  2. Press translate. Crossleaf Standard takes it from there, chapter by chapter. Your membership covers it, so there is nothing to price and nothing to pick. Translate one chapter or the whole book.
  3. Read it like a book. Side by side with the original, or English alone like an ordinary novel. Pin the version you prefer, and export when you're done.
You read, we choose

You choose the book. Crossleaf handles the AI.

Crossleaf Standard translates every chapter you bring. There is no model to pick, no price to work out and nothing to get wrong. If a passage comes back short or odd, Crossleaf tries again on a stronger engine by itself before it ever asks you anything.

That choice is not a guess. We put sixteen models through the same Korean chapter and scored each one on fidelity and on writing, with the marking shown, and we keep doing it. Reading the results is optional; benefiting from them is not.

If you do want to choose, the premium models are there by name under Choose the AI, paid for in leaves. Most readers never open it.

What it costs

One membership. Then you just read.

Crossleaf Standard translates every chapter, and your membership covers it. Nothing to quote, nothing to top up, no model to pick.

  • Reader · $6.99 a month · Generous Crossleaf Standard translation, included.
  • Plus · $12.99 a month · Twice as much Crossleaf Standard translation as Reader.

Renews monthly until you cancel. Cancel any time and it runs to the end of the period you have paid for.

Leaves 🍃, for the premium models

Your membership covers Crossleaf Standard, which translates every chapter. Leaves are only for premium models, which you choose by name. Packs are one-off, they never expire, and nothing recurs.

  • $4.99 · 500 leaves
  • $9.99 · 1,000 leaves
  • $19.99 · 2,000 leaves
  • $49.99 · 5,000 leaves

Every premium chapter is quoted before it runs. You pay for what the model actually did, rounded up to the leaf: a partial chapter costs what was written, a chapter the model never started costs nothing, and a failure on our side is refunded in full.

Always free

  • Importing a story and reading the original
  • Editing a translation by hand, including find and replace
  • Keeping names consistent, and renaming one everywhere
  • Exporting to EPUB, PDF, DOCX or text

You start with 10 free chapters on Crossleaf Standard, and we don't ask for a card to begin. After that a membership keeps you reading.

Fair questions

Is this allowed?

You bring the text: your own files, a book you have the right to use, or anything in the public domain. Crossleaf never hosts or links to sources. The translation is for your own reading, and your library is visible only to you.

Which languages?

Any language into English. We test most on Korean, Japanese and Chinese, and the recommended model for each is chosen from those tests.

How good is it?

Good enough that we published the marking. Sixteen models translated the same Korean chapter and each was scored on fidelity and on writing, slip by slip, with the rubric written down first; the results are on the blog. That work is what Crossleaf Standard is built on, and it is why you do not have to choose. If you would rather choose, the premium models are there by name.

What does it cost?

A membership: $6.99 a month for Reader, $12.99 for Plus, which gives you twice as much translation. Either one includes Crossleaf Standard, which translates every chapter, so ordinary reading has no per-chapter price to work out. Your first 10 chapters are free and we do not ask for a card. Your membership covers Crossleaf Standard, which translates every chapter. Leaves are only for premium models, which you choose by name.

What happens to my book?

It stays yours and private. There are no public pages or sharing links, your text is never used to train models, you can export the whole thing as EPUB, PDF, DOCX or plain text, and you can delete your account and everything in it whenever you like — it is gone for good after a 30-day grace period.
