Crossleaf Capture: privacy disclosure
What the Chrome extension can see, what it sends to Crossleaf, and what it stores on your computer.
Effective 2 September 2026.
Single purpose. Crossleaf Capture reads the text of a web page you choose and adds it to a book in your Crossleaf library, optionally translating it.
What it can access
- The current tab, when you ask. The extension reads a page's text only when you click Auto-detect or Pick the text block, or tap a page in auto-add mode. It does not read pages in the background.
- Sites you approve for auto-add. Auto-add asks Chrome for permission for that site only, so it can put its tap hint on the chapter pages you open there. Disarm takes the hint off every page.
- Storage on your computer for your Crossleaf sign-in token and your preferences (book, languages, model).
What it sends
The text you capture, your chosen languages and model, and your sign-in token are sent to crossleaf.app over HTTPS and handled under the Crossleaf Privacy Policy. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
What it does not do
It does not track your browsing, collect analytics, read pages you did not ask it to, or sell or share any data.
Removing it
Sign out from the extension popup to delete the stored token; signing out also disarms auto-add. Then remove the extension from Chrome. Captured chapters stay in your Crossleaf library until you delete them there.
