Using the Chrome extension
Capture a chapter from a web page into your book, optionally translating it on the spot. Auto-add mode handles a whole site one tap at a time.
The Crossleaf Capture extension reads the text of the page you are on and adds it to one of your books. Install it from the Chrome Web Store; it is free.
- Sign in with your Crossleaf account.
- Open a chapter page and click Auto-detect text. If it grabs the wrong block, use Pick the text block and click the story text instead.
- Check the preview, choose the book and the languages, then Translate and add or Add without translating.
Auto-add is for reading a serial: set it up once for a site, then on each chapter page tap anywhere and the chapter is added, translated if you chose that. Click Next on the site and tap again. A badge on the extension's icon counts the chapters, and Esc skips a page without adding it.
Disarm stops auto-add and takes the tap hint off every page at once. Signing out of the extension disarms it too.
A captured chapter costs what the same chapter would cost in the app and nothing more: on Crossleaf Standard your membership covers it, on a premium model it is quoted in leaves, and adding without translating spends nothing. There is no minimum balance to capture.
If a page is being auto-translated by Chrome, the extension warns you, because it would otherwise capture the machine translation instead of the original. In auto-add mode a tap on such a page adds nothing until you choose Show original.
