Importing a book
EPUB or plain text, in any language. Crossleaf finds the chapters and detects the language; plain-text files get a chapter review step.
Click Add a book and drop in an EPUB or a plain-text file.
EPUB files carry their own chapter structure, so Crossleaf follows it directly. Cover pages, tables of contents and blank sections are skipped.
Plain text has no structure to rely on, so Crossleaf looks for lines that read like chapter headings, in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean forms such as "Chapter 3", 第三章, 第1話, or 제3장. If it finds candidates you get a chapter review screen: tick the lines that begin a chapter, correct the language if the guess was wrong, and confirm. Getting the breaks right matters, because each chapter is translated as one unit.
You can also start a blank book and paste chapters in one at a time, which suits text you are copying by hand.
Adding the next volume
When the next volume arrives, open the book and choose Add chapters rather than adding a second book: the new chapters go on the end, and the book keeps its glossary and everything you have already translated. Volumes often overlap by a chapter, so any chapter the book already has is skipped instead of added twice. Adding a file is free.
Limits: 100 books per account, 1,000 chapters per book, and a chapter can be up to 500,000 characters.
