What are leaves, and what do they pay for?

Leaves are for the premium models — the ones you pick by name. Ordinary reading does not use them: your membership covers Crossleaf Standard.

Most readers never buy a leaf. Your membership includes Crossleaf Standard, which translates every chapter you bring, so ordinary reading costs nothing beyond the monthly price.

Leaves are for the other thing: the premium models, listed by name under Choose the AI, for a reader who wants to name the model herself. One leaf is one US cent, and you spend them only when a premium model does work on your book — translating a chapter, polishing one, or re-translating one piece.

Things that never cost anything:

  • Importing a book and reading the original.
  • Editing a translation by hand, including find and replace.
  • Exporting to EPUB, PDF, DOCX or text.
  • Keeping names consistent across chapters, and renaming one everywhere.

New accounts get 10 free chapters on Crossleaf Standard, with no card. Those are counted in chapters, not leaves.

Packs: $4.99 for 500 leaves, $9.99 for 1,000, $19.99 for 2,000, and $49.99 for 5,000 — the best value. Pack leaves never expire, and buying one is a one-off; nothing recurs.
